THIRD Annual Family Fun Day at Turkey Run State Park

The 2006 inaugural event was chosen as the #1 BEST family activity of all councils in the state of Indiana.

Events include canoeing / kayaking / tubing on Sugar Creek. Camping overnight is a GREAT option for those interested.

The canoe trip is 11.5 miles packed with beautiful scenery, great water, and lots of 'family' splashing. It takes between 3.5 to 5 hours to complete depending how many times we have to fish people out of the creek, upright overturned vessels, and how much time we spend eating lunch.

The cost is $21 per canoe... you can fit 3 in a canoe (especially if the third person is a small child) but 2 works out much better. The cost for a kayak (fits 1) is $17. We will get a 10% discount if we have more than 10 vessels.

You need to wear gear that allows you to get wet.. and you will get wet! Also, bring a cooler for drinks and food for lunch.

Following the canoe trip, we will head into Turkey Run for a cook out. The council will provide meat, buns, condiments, plates, cups, etc. Please just bring a dish to share and drinks. You may also want to bring a lawn chair or two.

We need a head count by May 5th to secure enough vessels because they book up fast and they are usually out of unreserved vessels on the day of our event.

For more info call or email Ron Strahle.
