Haiti Missions
"Whatsoever you do for the least of my brothers, you do unto me."
Well, everyone has returned home from Port Margot, Haiti safe & sound.
God is truly good. Fr. Jacques Mary Charles sends his thanks and prayers to the
people of St. Malachy. There were a total of six mission trips to Ste. Marguerite (three building and three medical) in 2002. The following summarizes the October missions and our plans
for 2003.
Building
The St. Malachy and Ste. Marguerite building crew did a great job. The medical team
could not accomplish what they do without the building team. They
- Provided 220-amp service to church, rectory, and
medical clinic
- Installed a distribution panel, 10 fans and 16
new lights in the church
- Installed a transfer switch at the parish
back-up generator
- Installed a ceiling fan in rectory, and
- Finished the medical clinic by putting in
cabinets & sinks.
For the first time, the Medical Team had lights & water.
Clinic Dedication
Fr. Jacques Mary Charles, Raphael Jean (Parish Council
President), and several dignitaries from Cap Haitian conducted a very
impressive service to bless and officially open the Medical Clinic at Ste.
Marguerite. An open house was held after the dedication service.
Medical Mission
The medical team saw about 850 patients. For the first time, our Dentist was able to drill and fill cavities instead of just pulling teeth. There was a widespread outbreak of respiratory infections in Haiti, and the team treated many Pneumonia patients.

We are making very little difference in the poverty, starvation, and suffering in Haiti. However, spiritually we are making a positive impact. And it's only because EVERYONE at St. Malachy has participated in giving their
time, talent & treasures.
The building and medical teams are very thankful for the generosity of our fellow parishioners. We are also very thankful for the hospitality shown us by the people of Ste. Marguerite. Together the parish families of St. Malachy and Ste. Marguerite are a true reflection of Christ’s love.
Please continue to pray for us!
*Note: If any Knights or other individuals are interested in helping with this project in any way, please contact Paul Zielinksi ASAP for further information and details. You can contact Paul by sending an email to this website, or by calling him at home. Thank you for your prayerful consideration!
